Spring 2017

Trésor Bunker                               President U.S. Marine Corps, 2003-2012 Major: Middle East and North African Studies The Cal Veterans Group has given me the comradery I once had in the military.  It has provided me a support network filled with individuals who understand the hardships of transitioning from the military into the civilian sector.  Most importantly, it provides me with a family and community of peers, as most of my family resides in Georgia. My goal for the Cal Veterans Group is to give back to current and incoming student veterans the same support which was given to me as an incoming transfer student.  I hope to help guide them through the ways of Cal and make their transition as smooth as possible while guiding them towards resources for a successful future.

Fareeza Ali Secretary (Chief of Staff) U.S. Marine Corps, 2011-2015 Major: Political Science "Cal Veterans Group has given me the opportunity to lead again.  Most importantly, it has given me a family and a sense of belonging that I longed for after leaving active duty.   My goal for the group is to engage with the community around us and demonstrate that though we are veterans, we are also so much more.  My fellow brothers and sisters are scholars, community servants, and innovators.  We lead by example and have the ability to shape tomorrow's world.  I know this - but I want everyone else to know it too."

Joe Bush Public Affairs Officer U.S. Marine Corps, 1998-2005             U.S. Army, 2009- 2016 Major: Journalism Masters'   The Cal Veterans Group has provided me with a safe place and like minded people to associate with. Too often, as returning veterans, we find ourselves at odds with the civilian world around us. The Cal veterans Group is a great place to help ease the transition back into civilian life and school. My gaol as the Public Affairs officer is to help our veterans stay connected with each other through social media, and continue to keep our members advised on events and career opportunities for Veterans.

Brian Kropf Finance Chair U.S. Army National Guard, 2006-2012 Major: Business Administration "The Cal Veterans Group, as well as the Cal Veterans Services Center and its amazing staff, gave me a place I knew I belonged. As a re-entry student veteran with a family and being a good 10+ years older than most of my classmates, I had a totally different life trajectory than the majority of the students around me. I wasn't quite sure how my experience at Cal would be but through the Cal Veterans Group and before I even stepped foot on campus for my first official day of classes, I knew the student veterans in the Cal Veterans Group would have my back just like we did when we all served."
